Personalized Experience
Before your session we will go over all the details to customize your session and make sure it's what you've been thinking of and hoping for. Below you can read about the three newborn packages I offer, pricing, and everything that is included with each session including a session that includes parent and sibling pictures with your newborn. I do take a limited number of sessions each month. I usually suggest booking at the beginning of your second trimester. Studio Location & Session Experience
Newborn sessions are scheduled all year and are held in my cozy studio located in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota just south of Owatonna and near Rochester, Minnesota. You can sit back and relax in my studio while I do what I do and create beautiful images of your baby. Your baby is always within your sight and is always treated with the utmost thought and care as your much loved child and new little person to this world.
Full Newborn Session
$625
- Approximately a 4 hour session
- 2-3 color choices

- 25 fully edited digital images and print release

Petite Newborn Session
$550
- Approximately a 3 hour session
- 2-3 color choices

- 20 fully edited digital images and print release
- Pictures of baby only
Mini Newborn Session
$450
- Approximately a 2 hour session
- 1-2 color choices

I have some answers.
- I will help you from the beginning to get ready for your session. We will talk about and pick colors, talk about any themes or vibes you’d like to have, any personal or sentimental items you’d like to include, etc.
- You don’t have to bring anything to your session besides yourselves and what you need to care for your baby. I have a large collection of high end props, wraps, headbands, hats, etc. that are all available for you at your session.
- You will also get a copy of my Newborn Client Guide that is full of good information to help you get ready for your session.
When and Where are Sessions Held?
- Newborn sessions take place on weekdays starting in the morning (around 9:00-10:00 depending on the time of year and the type of session) at my cozy studio on my property here in Blooming Prairie, MN (about 15 minutes north of Austin, 20 minutes south of Owatonna, and just west of Rochester, Minnesota).
- Full newborn sessions can take up to 4 hours from start to finish. It can take time to calm the baby, stop for feedings, and get them into the poses so that everything is just right.
- Please do not plan anything else on the day of your session unless it’s to take place that evening. These sessions can’t be rushed and trying to finish by a certain time is a gamble.
- Parent and sibling pictures are done at the beginning of the session. Parents can bring their kids in for the session in the morning and can plan on it taking 40-60 minutes depending on the “enthusiasm” of those involved. Once the family portion is completed I do ask that one parent (or another trusted adult) take the old kids from the studio and either bring them home or they can go right back to school.
Split Session Option
- For those who are doing family pictures but not everyone can be at the session at the set time I offer parents the option to “split their session”. What this means is they can come in on one day and do the family pictures portion of their session and then schedule a different day to do just the baby pictures. This add-on option is an additional $95.
How Are Your Newborn Sessions Styled?
- Sessions are simple, organic, and are designed in earth, neutral, and jewel tones. Most importantly, they focus on your baby and less on “the extra stuff”.
- I want your photos to have a timeless and classic feel while still feeling modern and fresh so they’ll look great hanging on your walls now and in your albums decades later.
- I often use flowers and greenery to add some extra depth and texture in your pictures.
- Most of my baskets, bowls, etc. are made of wood to continue that natural and earthy feel.
- I work with you during the process to pick colors, let you have a say on props, and make sure your session is something you love.
What Happens After My Session?
- Images are delivered via an online gallery. You’ll receive a proofing gallery within 14 days of your session from which you can select your final images.
- If there are some images you just can’t leave behind you’re able to purchase additional images from your gallery.
- After you pick your final images send me an email or message to let me know and I’ll begin editing your final gallery.
- Unlike some photographers who batch edit their photos and don’t take care to edit each photo individually, I treat each of your final selections like what it is…. a picture you love of someone you love.
- I go through each picture you’ve selected and hand edit it. I adjust the light, colors, and even pay attention to the eyes on each person’s face to make sure each of your photographs is the special thing you were hoping and looking for when you hired me. I treat each one like it could be hung as art in your living room or shown to your grandchildren 30 years from now.

What Should I Do to Prepare for My Session?
When Should I Book?
- The earlier the better. I often book up months in advance and I will only take a certain number of newborn sessions each month to ensure I have time to schedule each one and treat you the way you deserve and expect to be treated. Usually the beginning of your second trimester is a great time to set up your session.
- Sessions require a $150 non-refundable retainer fee to book and the balance is due two days prior to your session.
- Maternity Package: If you book your a full maternity session and a full or petite newborn session at the same time you are eligible for 15% of your maternity session price.
- Milestone Packages: Any milestone sessions you book before your newborn session are eligible for a 15% discount.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
You session is not confirmed until the non-refundable retainer fee been paid in full and the contract has been signed.
All photographs are copyrights of The Southern North Photography and it is illegal to copy, scan, submit into contests, manipulate, crop, edit or reproduce any images without written permission whether purchased or not.
Please don’t come to your session sick. If there is an illness we can reschedule for a time that works for both parties (Client and Photographer).
